The Mid-South Stocker Conference, a cooperative effort between the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service and The University of Tennessee Extension will be celebrating its tenth consecutive year in 2016.
The objective of this conference is to provide information that enhances the profitability, production efficiency, and ultimately the sustainability of stocker operators in the Mid-South region. Another unique aspect of this conference is emphasis on the role of stocker cattle in a rapidly evolving cattle industry, and focus on the importance of effectively meeting both customer and end-product consumer expectations. These objectives are accomplished through blending traditional and novel, innovative concepts in an educational program that has direct application to individual operations.
The Mid-South Stocker conference provides a unique opportunity for producers to interact with other stocker operators from the Mid-South region, as well as allied-industry professionals. Such professionals include representatives of the animal health, equipment, nutrition, and marketing industries, along with many others.
Due to recent producer interest and concerns about "rebuilding" the beef cow herd, discussions on heifer development and marketing will also be included as a part of the 2016 conference, which will be conveniently located at the Cave City, KY Convention Center. For those unfamiliar with the Convention Center, it is located approximately 1 mile off of I-65 at exit 53.
